Bird Charcoal can be added to feed as a supplement and to their water to keep it pure. Big Bird Charcoal is an excellent feed supplement that aids in digestion as well as adsorbing certain microbes and their toxins in the stomach/gizzard. It can be mixed with the feed, sprinkled on the coop's floor or the bottom of bird cages, or spread in outdoor areas as a feed scratch.
Because charcoal is antibacterial and antifungal it is the perfect choice for combatting coccidiosis (**a parasitic disease in chickens caused by coccidia, which infects the intestinal tract and can lead to symptoms like diarrhea, lethargy, and weight loss. Coccidiosis is particularly dangerous for young chickens). By daily supplementing with charcoal it can greatly reduce infestation and prevent diarrhea. For baby chicks, gosslings, parakeets, finches, etc., use the charcoal for Small Birds.
Diarrehea can also be caused by poisons, of which having charcoal in their diet can counteract the poisons they inadvertently get into.
